At T.I.P. Rural Electric Cooperative, we offer a variety of energy efficiency rebates to our member-owners.

Fillable rebate forms are now available. Please follow the steps below:

  1. Click on the link for the form and information about each rebate by expanding the menu options below.
  2. Enter the information in the fields required.
  3. Print the completed form, sign all pages that require a signature and mail the completed form with receipts to T.I.P. REC. (PO Box 534, Brooklyn, IA 52211)
  4. All rebates must be applied for within 6 months of date of purchase or they will not be accepted.
  5. Save your cooperative money; consider having rebates less than $250 applied to your bill.

This program is designed to promote Energy Star® qualified air source heat pumps (ASHP) as efficient electric heating and cooling ultra-efficient heating and cooling alternative for homeowners. Air source heat pump informational brochure can be viewed by clicking icon above. 

Requirements

  • Requires a separate meter installed outside of the house to monitor the heat pump usage.
  • Requires an electric water heater that heats 100% of the hot water. (This water heater is not to be wired to go through the electric heat meter)
  • Must sign an agreement with us allowing future cycling/control of the AC portion of the ASHP. (Maximum interruption of 3 hrs. per day)
  • There is a minimum of 1½ ton and a maximum of 20 tons or less to qualify for this rebate or rate.
  • Need to fill out an information sheet of the installation.
  • This will allow you to be put on our electric heat rate.

Air Conditioner rebates we offer:

Central Air Conditioner SEER of 15 and EER 12.5 or greater $100

Air Conditioner must be ENERGY STAR® compliant 
There is a maximum of 2 Central Air units per service

Rebates must be applied for within 6 months of date of purchase

Clothes Washer and Dryer must be Energy Star compliant

Appliance rebates we offer:

Clothes Washer with only an Electric Water Heater $40
Electric Clothes Dryer $20

This program is designed to promote an ultra-efficient heating and cooling alternative for homeowners. A geothermal heat pump informational brochure can be viewed by clicking icon above. 

Closed Loop Systems

Geothermal heat pump units that use a water/antifreeze solution and a NEW closed-loop ground heat exchanger.

Rebate is $400 per ton with a maximum rebate of 20 ton.

  • 3 ton = $1200
  • 4 ton = $1600
  • 5 ton = $2000
  • 6 ton = $2400

Open Loop Systems

Geothermal heat pump units that use an open-loop system with water from a well, lake or stream.

Rebate is $300 per ton with a maximum rebate of 20 ton.

  • 3 ton = $900
  • 4 ton = $1200
  • 5 ton = $1500
  • 6 ton = $1800

Requirements

  • Requires a separate meter installed outside of the house to monitor the heat pump usage.
  • Requires an electric water heater that heats 100% of the hot water. (This water heater is not to be wired to go through the electric heat meter)
  • Must sign an agreement with us stating that you will not have a second heat source using gas for the purpose of heating the home. This would include hydronics in the floor and or a gas furnace or boiler. However this does not include a single room gas fireplace or stove.
  • Need to fill out an information sheet on the installation of the unit.
  • There is a maximum of 20 tons for the rebate.
  • There is a maximum of 20 tons to qualify for the electric heat rate as long as it can be registered through one meter.
  • This will allow you to be put on our electric heat rate.
  • Unit Replacement on existing loop - $150 per ton.

Requirements

Heat/Energy Recovery Ventilator (HRV)

  • Must be tied to a central ductwork system
  • Internal fan system and separation of indoor and outdoor airflows
  • Two per home limit

Residential New Construction rebates available:

Residential New Construction Home Bonus $500

Premier Electric Home $200
For residential new construction, you must also submit rebate applications for all required equipment listed on the form.

Water Heater Rebates we offer:

40 gallon or larger, energy-efficient electric water heater with an energy factor of at least .90 $175
40 gallon or larger, resistance storage unit with geothermal heat recovery desuperheater $150
Integrated Heat Pump water heater with a capacity of not less than 50 gallons $650

Agricultural Rebates

What the Cooperative Needs

  2. Dairy Equipment Rebate Form

Dairy Pre-Coolers:

  • Heat exchangers should have a filter to avoid rapid clogging of the pre-cooler.
  • The number of cows currently providing milk processed by this equipment shall define the number of cows used to calculate the incentive.

Refrigerant Heat Reclaimers:

  • Facility must only use electric water heaters to be eligible for compressor refrigerant heat reclaimer incentives.
  • The number of cows currently providing milk processed by this equipment shall define the number of cows used to calculate the incentive.

Scroll Compressors: Must replace an existing reciprocating compressor for milk cooling system.

Variable Speed Vacuum Pumps:

  • Rebate is based on the controlled horsepower output of pump at rated full load.
  • Must meet applicable IEEE standards for harmonics control. The ASD must have either an input line reactor or isolation transformer.
  • It is recommended that a 3% impedance reactor, based on the horsepower rating of the ASD, be installed.

Program Requirements

  1. Compact Fluorescent and LED lamp and fixtures must be ENERGY STAR qualified lighting products and listed on the ENERGY STAR list provided on their website  www.energystar.gov(link is external).
  2. Fluorescent tube lamp fixtures must be type T8 or T5.
  3. Fluorescent T-8 or T-5 Fixtures must be new fixtures with electronic ballasts using T8/T5 lamps or (in retrofit situations) must include electronic ballast replacement and lamps for the size of the fixtures indicated. ENERGY STAR qualification is not required for these fixtures.
  4. A copy of the sales invoice must be provided to the Cooperative. For retrofit applications, proof of purchase must be provided for the necessary number of ballasts and lamps as indicated by the fixture type on the rebate form
  5. The lighting load must be served by the Cooperative providing the incentive. If the applicant intends to install equipment at more than one location served by the Cooperative, separate forms must be completed for each location.
  6. Agricultural lighting applications must be rated for the intended purpose.
  7. TOTAL REBATE SHALL NOT EXCEED 50% OF INSTALLED COSTS.
  8. A MAXIMUM REBATE payment from the cooperative may be applied to your rebate request. You should confirm any incentive request that exceeds $5000.

  2. Agricultural Outdoor & Horticulture Lighting Rebate Form

Rebates must be applied for within 6 months of date of purchase or they will not be accepted.

  • Heat Lamps
    Must be UL listed with a power input of 175 Watts or less. For replacement of 250 Watt heat lamps.

  • Single Crate Heating Pads
    Must be UL listed with a power input of 85 Watts or less.

  • Double Crate Heating Pads
    Must be UL listed with a power input of 170 Watts or less.

  • Heat Lamp or Pad Controller
    Heat pad controllers must allow control of heat output automatically with temperature sensors.

  • Livestock Waterers
    Waterers must be designed for year-round usage without freezing. Requires a maximum power input of 175 Watts or less per opening/trough. Tank should be constructed of plastic/polyethylene with a minimum of 2 inches of tank insulation, and lid covers to qualify. There is no minimum power input for heaters (if any) as long as waterer is designed to operate in Iowa during the winter without the water freezing.
