Fees & Charges

Below is a list and explanation of T.I.P. REC's fees and charges. Select each one to learn more.

Fees and Charges

The deposit is based upon the highest bill in the prior 12-month history at the location for which service is requested. The deposit fee may be waived by furnishing T.I.P. REC with a credit reference from a previous utility showing at least a year of payment history and that a minimum of 11 payments were made on-time. It may also be waived by signing an affidavit of ownership or a guaranty signed by the owner, which states that if a tenant doesn't pay their bill the owner will pay at least the deposit amount. A member will never lose their deposit, as it is refunded when payment is received on-time for a year or whenever the member moves off co-op lines.

If a member elects to reconnect a service that previously did not have power or a service that was disconnected for non-payment, there will be an $85 reconnect fee added to the account.

If a member elects to disconnect a service and it is not being transferred to another name, there will be an $85 disconnect fee added to the account.

If a member fails to respond to a delinquent notice, a T.I.P. REC employee may post a Notice of Disconnection. This notice will give the member 2 days to pay the delinquent bill or service is up for disconnection. A non-refundable and non-transferable $85 collection charge will be added to the next month’s bill.

If a check is returned to the cooperative, there will be a $30 return check fee added to the bill. In addition, the bill will be considered unpaid, and late payment charges will apply if it is after the due date.

To avoid a penalty, payment must reach the office by the “due date” printed on the bill, which is the 1st of each month. A member is allowed one time a year to be late and after that a 1½ % penalty charge will be added to the bill.

If a member elects not to allow us to turn on the radio frequency in the meter so we can read the meter through the airwaves, then we will manually read the meter every three months and charge $85.00 for the trip.
